It is dangerous and also illegal to plow snow across a Town Road per Article 1219 of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law & Highway Law 214.
It is illegal (Local Law #2 of 2017) to park on Town of Caroga town and county roads between December 1 and April 1 of each year. Penalties include fines and/or imprisonment.
The Highway Department will be paving South Shore Road West Caroga Tuesday August 18, 2020 from 6:00am to 4:00pm. The road will be closed for paving. Paving will start at the end of the road (the turnaround area) and proceeding to the east (State Route 10). Please make sure you have made arrangements to secure parking and other means of ingress and egress during this time.
Lane Road stump dump is closed due to misuse. It is available by appointment only: Call (518)921-2792
For your safety, the Highway Superintendent recommends that you not wear dark clothes when walking at night on town roads, especially during snow plowing season. Light, reflective clothing is best. Please stay out of harm’s way when a snow plow approaches.
The Highway Department will be working on South Shore Road East Caroga Lake until the road is completed. We are starting at the Wheelerville School end. South Shore Road East Caroga Lake will be closed down to traffic on the Wheelerville School side. Please enter and exit on County Highway 137 (Beech Ridge Road).
Garbage must be in tied bag. Bag must be curbside by 6 am.
If garbage collection falls on Memorial Day, Labor Day, Election Day, or Veterans Day, garbage is picked up the next day.
Garbage is collected on:
Mondays — South end
Tuesdays — North end.
The dividing line is Mead Creek.
