Highlights of the February 14, 2018 Monthly Town Board Meeting

To enhance communications with residents, the Town Board will distribute this newsletter with the “headlines” from the board meetings.

This was a routine board meeting that included a public hearing amending the local law providing real estate tax relief for Cold War veterans. Prior to the meeting, the board members individually reviewed the Town Clerk and Town Justice records for 2017. Councilman Jack Glenn was unable to attend this meeting.

Resolutions/Local Laws Passed:

  1. Cold War Veterans – Amended the existing local law that provides real estate tax relief to cold war veterans to eliminate the expiration date and make it permanent.

  2. American Express – Approved the use of American Express, in addition to Visa and MasterCard as a form of payment to the town. All fees are paid by the resident.

  3. HWY Garage Furnace – Accepted the quote from A Johnson Plumbing & Heating to install a replacement oil furnace and duct work in the Town Highway garage.

  4. Town Clerk Records – Accepted the 2017 records submitted by the Town Clerk.

  5. Town Justice Records – Accepted the 2017 records submitted by the Town Justice.

  6. Reserve Accounts – Established three reserve accounts totaling $135,000 to use in future years for weed management, highway equipment and capital projects.

  7. Engineering Study – Accepted the bid from EDP Consulting to complete an engineering study related to a Town drainage situation.
