COVID-19 is the disease caused by the virus SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2).

  This report highlights the ineffectiveness of temperature screening to identify those with COVID-19. Implications for Town of Caroga in-person meetings with temperature screening of participants is clear. This is not to say temperature screening should be discontinued. For example, screening does raise awareness and may help to move participation from in-person to remote participation.

Of great significance in the above is that aerosols are a major pathway for the transmission of SARS-CoV-2. Aerosols spread throughout an indoor room within five minutes, making the six-foot social distancing practice problematic. A significant percentage of aerosols also pass through cloth masks. Virii in aerosols have a half-life of roughly 1.1 hours.
