From the Town Board
To enhance communications with residents, the Town Board will distribute this newsletter with the “headlines” from the board meetings. The re-organizational meeting in January consists mainly of routine procedures to confirm all Town positions, who occupies them, how much they are paid, etc. In addition, there are a number of other procedural items that have to be confirmed. These routine items generated most of the resolutions passed by the board.
General Provisions – Town Bank, Official Newspaper, Board meeting times, etc.
Naming of Elected Officials – New Councilmen, Town Clerk, Highway Supervisor, etc.
Naming of Appointed Officials – Code Officer, Historian, BTI Coordinator, etc.
Compensation for Town positions – recognition of new NYS minimum wage, etc.
Retirement Reporting – Confirmed days/months worked by participants in NYS plan
Official Undertaking for Municipal Offices – For bonding purposes. Signed by all Town Council members, the Town Clerk and Highway Supervisor.
Request assistance from Fulton County to complete a process for next step in moving the new Town zoning regulations forward. There is no cost to the Town.
Resignation of two Town Council members from the Planning Board that they were previously appointed to serve on.
Donation of the “High Striker” from Sherman’s to the Caroga Historical Museum for restoration and display.
Approval for increasing the number of boat washing attendants for West Lake and NYS Campground using DEC grant money – at no cost to the Town.
The following items were also discussed:
Replacement of the furnace for the town highway department garage.
Use of short written department updates to the Town Board to reduce meeting times.
A new structure to store sand and salt for road use.
Changes to building permit fees.
A local law to address hazards created by plowing snow from driveways across roads.
Next Meeting: Monthly Town Board Meeting, Wednesday, January 10th at 7PM.
