From the Town Board
To enhance communications with residents, the Town Board will distribute this newsletter with the “headlines” from the board meetings.
This was a routine monthly board meeting. Dan Sullivan from the Mohawk Valley Economic Development District spoke to the board about the Clean Energy Communities Program. The Board will be consider implementing some of the programs. Lynne Delesky updated the Board regarding the success of the May 5th Town Clean-up Day and thanked participants.
Resolutions/Local Laws Passed:
Caroga Lake Campground – Approved Town trash pick-up for the 2018 season.
Eccentric Club – Approved donation of 4 free rounds of golf for their fundraiser. The club holds their annual golf tournament at the Nick Stoner course.
Golf Course – Approved no cost memberships for current Town employees.
Retirement Reporting – Approved the required retirement reporting report submitted by Linda Gilbert (Town Clerk) for submission to the NYS Retirement Program.
Town Property Usage – Approved revised Property Use form for group activities on Town property. The form is not required for use of Town Hall and Glenn Harris Park.
June Board Meeting – Monthly meeting date was changed to Wednesday, June 20th.
Fireworks Permit – Approved a permit for Pine Lake Park for Wednesday, July 3rd.
Town Marketing – Approved up to $150 for purchase of the cover of a marketing booklet funded by 20 businesses in town for insertion in the Leader Herald in June.
Volunteer Workers – Approved Caroga Art Collective’s use of volunteer workers (with signed insurance waivers on file with the Town) at Sherman’s for repairs and clean-up.
The following items were also discussed:
Highway Dept – Next steps were discussed regarding a new sand/salt shed. Replacement of aging 2004-2006 trucks was discussed. Cost information for replacement vehicles and residual value of current equipment will be collected and shared with the Board at the next meeting. Bids will be solicited for the paving of South Shore Rd on West Caroga Lake.
911 Signs – A number of 911 signs were damaged due to snow plowing because they were too close to the road and so low they could not be seen in the snow. Residents are reminded to locate signs 6-8 feet from the road and have them 4-5 feet high.
Attention: Residents are asked to report anyone tampering with street signs to Steve Putman at (518)835-2835 or the Sheriff’s Department at (518)736-2100.
