Highlights of the August 28th, 2018 Town Board Work Session
To enhance communications with residents, the Town Board will distribute this newsletter with the “headlines” from the board meetings.
This was a Town Board work session. The primary items to be addressed were the HWY Dept equipment needs, Town Hall roof repairs, final installation of the new water well for the HWY Dept garage and golf course clubhouse, renewing the Town insurance policy and the sale of a small parcel of town property.
Resolutions/Local Laws Passed:
Water Well – Approved the quote from Hawk Drilling to complete the installation of a well pump and water/electrical lines to connect to supply water to the HWY garage and golf course clubhouse at a cost not to exceed $12,000.
HWY Equipment - Authorized the HWY Superintendent to order a 2019 International plow/dump truck for $159,122 to replace the 2004 International dump truck.
Town Hall – Approved Mohawk Valley Coatings to complete numerous roof repairs for Town Hall at a cost of $4,464.
Insurance – Accepted the Town insurance renewal proposal from NBT Insurance Agency and increased the excess catastrophic liability coverage to $4M/$8M.
Town Property – Approved a final round of bidding for a small property (SBL 83.6-3-2) on NYS HWY 10/29A near the post office with a minimum bid of $1,750.
Town Hall Meeting – Scheduled an open Town Hall meeting on Tuesday, September 18th at 7pm to hear resident input on the sale of the Sherman’s property (see below).
The following items were also discussed:
Roof Repairs – Resident Trish Isabella
presented information on Town Hall roof repairs. She represented Mohawk
Valley Coatings from Little Falls, provided estimates and explained
procedures for the roof repairs or replacement of the roof.
Sherman’s Property – Rick Ruby, Chairman of the Caroga Arts Collective (CAC) and other members of their board met in executive session with the Town Board to discuss the purchase of the Sherman’s property. In the public meeting, a letter of intent from George Abdella supporting the proposed sale and offering to waive his rights to litigate the town for anything related to the Sherman’s property was read to the public.

Town Hall Meeting on Sherman’s, Tuesday, September
18th at 7PM.
The proposed sale of the
Sherman’s property to the CAC will be discussed.
