From the Town Board
Highlights of the October 10th, 2018 Town Board Meeting
To enhance communications with residents, the Town Board will distribute this newsletter with the “headlines” from the board meetings.
This was a regularly scheduled Town Board monthly meeting. A public hearing was held during the meeting to receive input on the proposed update to the Town of Caroga Zoning Ordinance. The public hearing will remain open until the next board meeting on November 10th (see below). A copy of the proposed update to the Zoning Ordinance is posted to the Town website.
Resolutions/Local Laws Passed:
Health Insurance – Authorized the Town Supervisor to sign the 2019 contract from CDPHP for town health insurance. The rate increase is less than 1%.
Fire Department – Authorized the Town Supervisor to sign the new contract with the Caroga Lake Volunteer Fire Department that provides a 2% annual increase.
Sexual Harassment Policy – Adopted the model policy provided by New York State as the Town’s policy. The state requires all municipalities to establish a sexual harassment policy by October 2018.
The following items were also discussed:
Zoning Ordinance – Al Kozakiewicz (Planning & Zoning Board Chairman) presented an overview of the proposed update to the Town’s Zoning Ordinance. A number of questions were asked and comments were made to some specific changes in the ordinance. This will be the first update to the ordinance in over 20 years and it was stated that most changes were simply to reflect how various properties are currently used. It was stated that most residents would likely not notice any change due to the new ordinance. The public hearing will remain open until the next board meeting on November 10th (see below).
Executive Session – The board spent over an hour in executive session. During this time they discussed a personnel issue, several legal matters and a revised purchase contract for Sherman’s received this week from the Caroga Art Collective.
Upcoming Meetings:
