From the Town Board
Highlights of the August 26th, 2019 Town Board Meeting
To enhance communications with residents, the Town Board will distribute this newsletter with the “headlines” from the board meetings. Detailed meeting minutes will be posted on the Town website (TownOfCaroga.com).
This was a special Town Board meeting to address time sensitive issues. The meeting lasted approximately twenty minutes.
Resolutions/Local Laws Passed:
Stop Signs – The board set a public hearing for 7:30 pm on Sept. 11 for Local law #1 of 2019. This is a law to make the new stop signs on East Shore Road of West Caroga Lake legally enforceable with a violation fine of up to $250. The signs are intended to slow/reduce traffic and will be up all year.
Town Custodian & Grounds Keeper – Approved the hiring of Robert Thompson as the new Town custodian. Rob is a Caroga resident and has worked for Fulton County for the last 4 years. He will continue to work for the County and will work part-time (up to 20 hours/week) for the Town at $13.25 per hour. He will start work immediately.
Referendum on Sherman’s – Approved the scheduling of the referendum on Sherman’s for the November 5th general election ballot. Town law requires that the board pass a resolution to schedule a referendum 60-75 days prior to the date of the referendum. The regular monthly board meeting on September 11th would have been too late for the required timing.
