Town Board Meeting Highlights

To strengthen communication with residents, this newsletter provides headlines from Town Board meetings.

The March 16 meeting at Town Hall was held, according to the Town Clerk, without appropriately notifying the public. Council Member James Long was absent, having not received notification of the meeting. Topics included — but were not limited to — responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. The meeting lasted 100 minutes.

Resolutions/Local Laws:

  1. Parks, Lakes, Recreation, and Tourism (PLRT) Commission Appointments –

  2. Caroga Emergency Declaration – Following emergency directives issued by the President of the United States and the Governor of New York State, the Caroga Town Board “determined that Section 28 Article 2B of the New York State Executive Law be enacted to empower the local municipal jurisdiction to address the needs of this mortal class disaster during this emergency effective until April 11, 2020.” (4 to 0 vote)

  3. COVID-19 Pandemic Policies – Temporary hours of operation: (4 to 0 vote)

  4. April 2020 Town Board Meeting – The Board changed the date of the next monthly meeting from Wednesday April 8 to Wednesday April 15, 2020 at Town Hall. (4 to 0 vote)
