Zoning Board of Appeals December 16, 2008 Minutes

The Town of Caroga Zoning Board of Appeals interviewed 5 applicants for the vacant position on the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Alternate position for the Zoning Board of Appeals. The candidates that were interviewed were done in this order, Stephanie Bugaj, Janice Corr, Ernest Gagnon, Robert Kane and Tor Shekerjian.

Each applicant was interviewed separately. As each candidate was interviewed separately before the Zoning Board members they were advised by Chairman Pete Welker as to what required of a regular Zoning Board member and what was required as an Alternate Zoning Board member. Each candidate was advised that the Zoning Board of appeals meets as needed and that they must be able to attend a credited 4 hour training session annually as mandated by the state for each board member. Each candidate was asked why they were interested in becoming a board member and what experience they had.

Each candidate gave their reasons for wanting to become a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals and what experience they can bring to the board. Following each members interview they were thanked for expressing an interest in becoming a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals. Each candidate was advised that the Zoning Board members will give their recommendations to the Caroga Town Board at their next meeting and it will their decision as to which candidate will be appointed to the board and to the alternate position.

Following the conclusion of the interviews the Zoning Board members tabulated their comments and made their recommendation for each candidate. The Zoning Board members selected Robert Kane for the vacant position on the Zoning Board of Appeals and selected Janice Corr for the Alternate position.

The Zoning Board will send their recommendations for the positions to the Town of Caroga Board. Their decision will be made upon these recommendations at the next Town Board meeting.
